The national flag of Cuba, also known as the Lone Star flag or Estrella Solitaria, is an iconic symbol that has deep historical roots. Designed in 1849 by Narciso López and Miguel Teurbe Tolón, this flag represents Cuban independence and patriotism. The three blue stripes signify the divisions of Cuba at that time, while the white stripes stand for purity of ideals. The red triangle is inspired by the French Revolution's ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity. The single white star symbolizes Cuba's struggle for freedom.
The Cuba flag was first sewn by Emilia Teurbe Tolón and has been a pivotal part of Cuban history, including its hoisting during Cuba's declaration of independence in 1902. Despite political changes, the design remains unchanged, embodying the resilience and spirit of the Cuban people.
