COLOMBIA FLAG

  • Size: 150cm x 90cm (5 feet x 3 feet)
  • 2 x Metal Eyelets
The national flag of Colombia symbolises Colombian independence from Spain, gained on 20 July 1810. It is a horizontal tricolour of yellow, blue and red. The yellow stripe takes up half of the flag and the blue and red take up a quarter of the space each.

The horizontal stripes (from top to bottom) of yellow, blue and red tricolour have a ratio of 2:1:1. This distinctive design is different from most other tricolour flags, either vertical or horizontal, in having unequal stripe sizes.

According to current interpretations, the colours signify:
  • Yellow: Represents the riches of the country and the wealth of Colombian soil.
  • Blue: Symbolizes the sky above Colombia and its seas.
  • Red: Honours the blood spilled for Colombia's independence and the effort of its people.
The flag’s colours have other representations, such as blue for loyalty and vigilance, red for victory in battles for Colombian independence, and yellow for sovereignty and justice.
